I have had a lifelong passion for Simple, Slow, Living, it started when I was a child and my parents took me to visit my grandparents in Greece. The lovely slow, simple way of the country and way of doing was greatly appealing. Greece also inspired to a certain extent my love of vintage living. Technology in 1970s Greece was behind that of the UK, although it's the same now, there was a certain appeal to listening to the world service on an old radio and watching old American shows on black and white television.
I started my career in Banking and then went into IT, eventually realising my life long ambition of working for the BBC. The BBC taught me how to respect and motivate people, how to build teams and the true meaning of diversity and inclusion. I loved it but thought there was more in the outside world. I went on to work for a number of private companies, two startups and eventually the NHS where in 2021 I was made redundant. This was a blessing in disguise as it gave me the opportunity to look at my life and do something I wanted to do, something with passion and meaning, something that would help other people in their own life journeys.
I retrained to become a Professionally Certified Coach specialising in Career, Digital Detox, and Wellbeing Coaching. I have been awarded the BetterUp Coaching Foundations Certificate as well the Chrysalis Advanced Certificate in Coaching (Ad. Cert CNS) (Recognised and Quality Checked by the UK National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society which holds an Accredited Register, recognised by the Professional Standards Authority)
We are all masters of our destinies, and we have it inside ourselves to create the life we want to live, achieve careers with clarity, passion and meaning whilst surrounding ourselves with people we care about. My philosophy is that success and happiness can be attained if an individual, creatively explores options and develops realistic expectations alongside achievable personal development plans. My coaching centres around creating safe spaces for my clients to develop plans to achieve their career or life goals.
I had read many books on simple, slow and scandi living but hadn't found one that combined all the disciplines into one framework. I decided to combine some of the principles, used in coaching, with my own personal experiences. Thus the idea of SHELVE was born.
Alongside my self help books I have recently completed a short fiction book called Barbara and Norman. This was great fun to write and I hope to write some more in the future.
